The SUV market in India continues to thrive, with June 2025 showcasing a dynamic shift in consumer preferences. The latest sales figures highlight the fierce competition among compact and midsize SUVs, with some models soaring while others face challenges. Leading the pack is the Hyundai Creta, which sold 15,786 units, securing the top spot despite a slight 3 percent dip compared to last year. Its bold design and reliable performance keep it a favorite among Indian buyers.

Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza made an impressive leap, climbing to second place with 14,507 units sold, a solid 10 percent increase from June 2024. This growth reflects its appeal as a practical yet stylish choice for urban drivers. Mahindra’s Scorpio also showed strength, grabbing third place with 12,740 units and a 4 percent rise, proving its rugged charm still resonates. Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon held steady in fourth with 11,602 units, though it saw a 4 percent drop.
The Tata Punch, once a top contender, took a hit, dropping 43 percent to 10,446 units, landing in fifth. Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx, however, stayed consistent, selling 9,815 units with a modest 1 percent growth, securing sixth place.
Mahindra’s Thar stole the spotlight with a massive 77 percent surge, reaching 9,542 units, driven by the popularity of the Thar Roxx. The brand is also gearing up for a three-door Thar update in 2026. Toyota’s Hyryder also shone, climbing 75 percent to 7,462 units, likely due to growing interest in hybrid vehicles.
On the flip side, Mahindra’s XUV 3XO saw a 17 percent decline, with 7,089 units sold, though its new REVX series might turn things around. Hyundai’s Venue struggled, dropping 31 percent to 6,858 units, slipping to tenth.
