Mercedes GLS AMG Line Hits India at Rs 1.40 Crore: Style Takes Center Stage
Mercedes GLS AMG Line debuts in India at Rs 1.40 crore, focusing on style to meet luxury SUV demand. Explore its features and market fit.
India’s first locally made SUV-coupe, the Tata Curvv, launched in September 2024 with a sleek design and impressive features. Tata Motors has now introduced a price hike, effective immediately, adjusting costs for select variants. The base model remains at INR 9,99,990 (ex-showroom), keeping it appealing for buyers seeking a sub-10 lakh SUV.
Certain higher-end configurations, like the Creative S GDI turbo-petrol MT and Accomplished+ A GDI turbo petrol-DCA, are now INR 3,000 more expensive. Most other variants have increased by INR 13,000, with the top-end model reaching INR 19,51,990 (ex-showroom). This reflects Tata’s strategy to balance affordability with premium quality.
The Curvv offers three engine options to suit different driving needs. The 1.2-litre Revotron turbo-petrol delivers 118 hp and 170 Nm, perfect for city commutes. The new 1.2-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol provides 123 hp and 225 Nm for a sportier drive, while the 1.5-litre Kryojet turbo-diesel offers 116 hp and 260 Nm for fuel efficiency on long trips. Each engine comes with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, available across multiple trims.
The Curvv is packed with premium features, including flush-fitted door handles with welcome lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a powered tailgate with gesture activation. Inside, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, and a panoramic sunroof with mood lighting create a luxurious cabin. Ventilated front seats, a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and reclining rear seats add comfort. Safety is exceptional, with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a 360º camera, and Hill Descent Control.
The price hike accounts for rising production costs, but the Curvv remains a strong contender in the mid-size SUV market with its style, performance, and safety.
