Apple Music and Universal Music Group (UMG) have unveiled Sound Therapy, an innovative audio wellness collection aimed at enhancing focus, relaxation, and sleep. Exclusively available on Apple Music, this groundbreaking initiative combines well-known tracks from UMG’s roster of global superstars with subtle auditory enhancements, leveraging cognitive science and psychoacoustics to support listeners’ daily routines while preserving the artists’ original vision.

The Sound Therapy collection, developed by UMG’s London-based music-wellness venture Sollos, features reimagined and extended versions of songs by artists like Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, Ludovico Einaudi, AURORA, Jhené Aiko, Chelsea Cutler, and Jeremy Zucker. By infusing tracks with auditory beats and colored noise—such as gamma waves for focus, theta waves for relaxation, and delta waves or pink noise for sleep—the collection is designed to encourage specific brain responses. For instance, a dreamy rendition of Katy Perry’s “Double Rainbow” may help listeners drift off, while an Imagine Dragons track could boost productivity.

The collection is divided into three categories:

  • Focus: Enhances cognitive performance with gamma waves and white noise to mask distractions, helping listeners stay in the moment.
  • Relax: Promotes relaxation using theta waves, ideal for unwinding and letting go.
  • Sleep: Encourages deeper sleep with delta waves and pink noise, mimicking natural sounds like rainfall or ocean waves.

Sound Therapy builds on Apple’s commitment to health through offerings like Apple Watch, HealthKit, and Apple Fitness+. The company will collaborate with UMG and Sollos to further validate the scientific benefits of music for wellbeing. The launch follows the debut of Apple Music’s Chill radio station, a continuous stream of calming music and mindful moments hosted by tastemakers like Brian Eno, Stephan Moccio, and Zane Lowe.

Available now on Apple Music, Sound Therapy is accessible in over 167 countries across devices including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and more. The ad-free platform ensures a premium, privacy-focused experience.
