Rockstar Games has once again delayed Grand Theft Auto VI, confirming that the much-awaited title will now release on November 19, 2026. This marks a six-month delay from the previously planned May 2026 release and comes a full year after the original Fall 2025 window.
The announcement was made through Rockstar’s official X account. The studio said it understands the long wait but needs additional time to achieve the expected level of polish and quality that fans deserve.
In an interview with The Game Business, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick explained that the company stands by Rockstar’s decision. He said that when Take-Two sets a release date, it does so with full confidence. However, if a game needs more time to become its best possible version, that time will always be given.
Zelnick added that the team feels good about the new release window, which still falls within the same fiscal year. He emphasized that Rockstar’s approach reflects its commitment to quality and that marketing activities will begin well in advance to give players more certainty ahead of launch.

While nothing is confirmed yet, there’s speculation that Rockstar might release a new trailer soon to ease disappointment among fans, similar to what the studio has done after past delays.
Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for upcoming GTA 6 updates and promotional content, which could arrive in the coming weeks.
