Brokewell Malware Invades Android Devices via Facebook Ads: Stay Protected
A cunning malware campaign on Facebook is tricking Android users with fake TradingView ads, leading to data theft and remote control of devices.
A recent report reveals that Project Sirius, the multiplayer spin-off set in The Witcher universe, has experienced another series of layoffs. Kotaku reports that The Molasses Flood, the development studio acquired by CD Projekt Red in 2021, has changed its development approach, resulting in the loss of 18 team members.
Initially announced in 2022, Sirius was introduced as a fresh interpretation of The Witcher franchise, integrating single-player elements from The Witcher with multiplayer features. Nonetheless, the project has encountered numerous challenges since its debut.
In early 2023, Project Sirius faced a significant setback when CD Projekt Red reassessed the project's scope, leading to a total redevelopment under a “new framework.” This shift caused 26 layoffs at The Molasses Flood. Following this 2023 reset, updates on Project Sirius have been scarce, though the team did make notable hires, including Destiny 2 writer Kwan Perng as the lead writer.
Despite these creative transformations, the studio behind Project Sirius is undergoing further internal restructuring. Recently, nine more team members were let go, and an additional nine have been reassigned to other projects.
While Project Sirius encounters difficulties, it is not the only Witcher-related project underway by CD Projekt Red. The company is preparing to reveal The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past at Gamescom 2026 and is also continuing development on The Witcher 4. Additionally, developer Fool’s Theory is working on a complete remake of the original Witcher.
The timeline for when players might first see Project Sirius remains uncertain, particularly with this fresh wave of layoffs complicating development. Fans remain hopeful that the multiplayer extension of The Witcher universe will progress smoothly, as the concept of such a game is very appealing.
