In terms of AI performance, Apple highlights impressive improvements: the M6 chip can handle large language model prompts 13.5 times faster than the M1 chip, accelerates Excel calculations by 2.3 times, and doubles the speed of ray-traced gaming experiences.
For users requiring even more oomph, the Mac mini M5 Pro offers up to an 18-core CPU and a 20-core GPU that includes advanced ray tracing technology. This model supports up to 64GB of memory with a bandwidth of 307GB/s, aligning with the needs of professionals handling demanding workloads.
Performance benchmarks for the M5 Pro demonstrate its capability to manage large language model prompts 8.5 times faster than the M2 Pro, render Blender projects 4.5 times quicker, and process images in Affinity at a rate 2.1 times faster.
Connectivity enhancements are also present in both models. They come equipped with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and 2.5Gb Ethernet, with an option to upgrade to 10Gb Ethernet. The M6 supports Thunderbolt 4, whereas the M5 Pro features Thunderbolt 5, which includes AI model clustering support.
Both computers run the latest macOS 27, integrating new Siri AI enhancements and improvements to Apple Intelligence, further enhancing usability and productivity.
Environmentally conscious users will appreciate Apple's use of 50% recycled materials in the construction of these machines and enclosures made entirely from 100% recycled aluminum.
